Eboni helps England to victory at the Commonwealth Games

Against all odds, Eboni Beckford-Chambers (Wh 2006-06) and her England Netball teammates powered to gold-medal victory at the Commonwealth Games, following a thrilling final against Australia, which concluded 52-51.

Goal defender Eboni played a key role in every match of England Netball's Commonwealth campaign. In particular, she proved instrumental in England's narrow defeat of Jamaica in the semi-final, which was won by a single goal in the last second.

Eboni left the College and went on to study Law at Bristol University, where she graduated with an LLB (Hons) and a Masters in Commercial Law. Alongside her Netball, she is a trainee solicitor in the Dispute Resolution Department at Mogers Drewett LLP, a leading legal firm in the South West.

Eboni climbed the ranks in England Netball, playing at U17 and U19 levels, before being named captain of England U21s in 2007, leading the squad to the World Youth Championships. She made her senior England debut in 2008. To date, she has won over 80 senior international caps. She is currently Captain of Superleague team, Team Bath, and regularly returns to Epsom to coach pupils.

Head of Netball, Beverley Bostock, said: "This is a monumental achievement for Eboni and the team. Australia and New Zealand have dominated the sport for many years, but England had a clear plan to develop the national team into world contenders and it has paid off.

"For a squad of just 12 to include an Old Epsomian is amazing - we are immensely proud of Eboni's achievements and congratulate her and the whole England team, players, coaches and support staff for their history-making success.

"Eboni is a tremendous role model for the pupils of Epsom, demonstrating how, with focus and hard work, it is possible to combine academic, career and sporting success at the highest level."
