Meeting friends, 40 years on
The 1973 leavers celebrated their 40th reunion, which began with a late afternoon tour of the College campus and was followed by a curry supper at the site of the old Tuck Shop, which is now the Sixth Form Centre. Headmaster, Jay Piggot in his after-dinner remarks recalled humorous findings from a pupil survey conducted in 1970. He commented, "It appears as though 42% of those surveyed were in favour of voluntary Chapel, while 71% were in favour of compulsory sport."
The reunion was also attended by a cohort of leavers from 1970, 1971 and 1972, and former teachers, Stephen Oliver and David Young. The next reunion in the ten-year cycle will be the 50th reunion for those who left in 1963 on 8th September.
